The latest Android smartphone out of the Sony Ericsson camp that’s grabbed quite a bit of attention is the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc, and the only real thing not known is when the device will come out and play with the public along with any pricing, however there may be a bit of news on one of those points.
According to an article over on Engadget by Darren Murph, we may see the release of the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc within a few months as apparently the Indonesian arm of Sony Ericsson has posted an image of the Android 2.3 Gingerbread handset with a little info.
Apparently the information in the post translates to “Present 3 months longer,” which should place the release of the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc somewhere in April; still no word on just how much the device will hit your pocket for though.
For those that may have missed it the specs of the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc according to Android Central are, a 4.2 inch Reality Display, 1GHz processor, 8 megapixel auto-focus camera with 720p video and LED flash, A-GPS, HDMI out, 512MB memory, 8GB SD card installed and expandable up to 32GB, Bluetooth, WiFi, Facebook app, DLNA, Wisepilot turn-by-turn navigation and a 3.5mm jack.
Looks like the day many have eagerly been waiting for is just a few days away, the official announcement that the CDMA iPhone is coming to the Verizon network. Apparently Tuesday will be the big day Verizon announced the coming of the much talked about Verizon iPhone.
According to an article over on Intomobile by Kelley Hodgkins, the Wall Street Journal has stated that Verizon Wireless has invited reporters to an event in New York City on the 11th of January where apparently the Big Red will finally announce the carrier will carry the iPhone.
According to the WSJ, the Verizon iPhone will be a CDMA iPhone and not the iPhone 5 or any other variant of the device, however as yet just when the Verizon iPhone will become available is still being kept under tight wraps.
Apparently Apple has decided to deliver the Verizon iPhone to combat increasing pressure from rival, the Google Android platform, and will of course signify the end of AT&T’s exclusive stranglehold over the iPhone.
The interesting thing to see when the Verizon iPhone finally lands is if it will have a disastrous effect on AT&T, if Verizon’s 3G network will cope with the extra load a Verizon iPhone is expected to bring and if AT&T iPhone customers will actually leave the carrier and flock to Verizon.
For the full WSJ report and what some people think about the iPhone coming to Verizon we have their video report for your viewing pleasure below…enjoy.

We just got to spend a few minutes with the HTC Inspire 4G, one of the new AT&T 4G devices announced here at CES. Unfortunately, the particular unit on hand here didn't have a battery, but since it's rocking Android 2.2 with Sense, the software experience shouldn't be too different from HTC's other offerings. That 3.6 4.3-inch WVGA display eats up most of this slim phone's facade, and there's a fairly pronounced lens for that 8 megapixel shooter around back. We actually heard HTC reps chatting about how the software is still not finalized and AT&T needs to sign off, which could be part of the reason no batteries could be found. We'll do our best to follow up later in the show, but for now feast your eyes on some glorious hardware shots in our gallery below.

Expect PR1.3, complete with MeeGo, quite soon.
It’s good to see that Nokia hasn’t left the N900, its signature hackable smartphone, by the wayside. Behold this quote by Harri Hakulinen, team lead for the MeeGo on N900 project:
On the Maemo side, there have been interesting, supporting developments going on, as well. The PR 1.3 update is quite close now, and with that you can easily dual boot between Maemo and Meego on your N900. There is also a possibility of developing applications supporting both operating systems, based on Qt and Qt Mobility APIs on the Maemo side. It means that you can develop once in PC with Qt Creator, and test your applications on both Maemo and MeeGo, directly on your N900 device!
The videos and screenshots that I’ve seen of MeeGo have been pretty impressive so far, but it’s hard to say how well it will be received. It’s the last player in the game to arrive, so to speak, and the market is far different now than it was six months ago, what with the new batch of Windows 7 phones announced and other smartphone manufacturers pulling out all of the stops.
MeeGo Calling – on N900

Is this the Samsung SCH-i520 you've been waiting for wrapped in a protective case? We can pretty much bank on the fact that the HTC Thunderbolt is getting outed today and with this pic slapped up by Offwire -- which looks suspiciously like an unbranded version of this Verizon set we saw -- we may well be looking at another of Verizon's suite of new LTE sets. Nothing much is known about this 4G slate, aside from the obvious forward facing camera, but Verizon's press event starts in the next little while and we hope we'll learn more.

Android getting ported to the iPhone may be old news by now, but Android 2.3 (a.k.a. Gingerbread) getting ported to the iPhone? Well, that's something... new, if entirely expected. As before, it's the iPhone 3G doing the honors, and the port is still based on the iDroid project, which means you can hang onto iOS in a dual-boot configuration so you won't be left in the cold when the less-than-stable port decides not to cooperate. And, yes, this once again means that the iPhone has gotten the latest version of Android before many Android devices have. Head on past the break for a video.
