While the world is clamoring all over the iPhone 5 with competitors also gearing for its coming, Apple may be causing waves a lot sooner than expected. There have been rumors that the iPhone Nano, most likely a smaller version of the iPhone 3GS, will be created within 6-18 months, focusing of the average consumer market. With a smaller phone, it would also mean a smaller price, which is projected to be about $300 upon release.
According to Jefferies analyst Peter Misek, as found on ZDNet.com, this marketing strategy of Apple could actually shake Android phone makers, Nokia, and Research In Motion’s sales in creating cheaper phones with high standards such as the BlackBerry Curve. When a budget-friendly iPhone Nano hits markets, it will make larger waves with the development of the iPhone 4S, and the anticipated outbreak of the iPhone 5 in 2012. Apple finds this strategy perfect as it cuts costs with manufacturers, while reusing components from former iPhone versions.
