Azzurri purchase lifts Olive base to 30,000

Olive Communications acquires Azzurri’s remaining Vodafone base – its second major deal in nine months

Independent dealer Olive Communications has acquired the remaining Vodafone base of O2 Centre of Excellence and strategic partner Azzurri Communications for an undisclosed fee.

The deal sees Uxbridge-based Olive, a Vodafone platinum partner, increase its base by 6,000 to more than 30,000. Its Vodafone base now stands at about 20,000.

It is the second major deal signed by Olive in the past nine months, having signed-up job seekers and training company JHP in August. The deal saw 1,750 connections transferred from O2 to Vodafone worth 40,000 per month in billed line-rental.

The deal was, at the time, understood to be the biggest order ever placed through Yes Telecom.

Azzurri, which become an O2 solus partner in January 2010, said the sale accounts for around five per cent of its base. Azzurri told Mobile News previously it was actively seeking opportunities to sell its remaining base, which also includes Orange and T-Mobile.

It said the sale would allow Azzurri to invest more into other areas of the business, such as its unified communications strategy and ‘rationalising’ its product portfolio.

All customers have been informed and the transfer of accounts was completed this week.

Azzurri Communications director of mobility solutions Martin Flick said: “This move makes a lot of sense for us, as it means we can streamline internal processes and free up resource we currently devote to this small supply relationship, and focus on managing our core propositions.”

Olive managing director Mark Geraghty (pictured) said: “It’s a good deal for everyone. We are focused on growing our Vodafone base.”
