HTC EVO 3D to Feature 800MHz CDMA Support, Sprint Stays Silent

According to FCC filings, the forthcoming HTC EVO 3D will be launched later this month with support for CDMA on the 800MHz currently used for Nextel service. The final approval of hardware supporting 800MHz ESMR on CDMA also suggests that Sprint is ahead of schedule in terms of development, as another device from Samsung was expected to be launched with the capability later this year.

The HTC EVO 3D is set for a June 24th launch via Radio Shack and is currently available for pre-order, with Sprint also expected to launch on that date as well. When asked for further clarification on whether the launch of the EVO 3D would also signal the launch of 800MHz CDMA service on that date, Sprint representatives refused to comment on the matter directly.

With the launch of hardware supporting CDMA on 800MHz, Sprint looks to have hardware available ahead of the Network Vision/Sprint Direct Connect rollout and transition in order to avoid previous issues that plagued the rollout of QChat.
