Sony’s Vita-PS3 Link Look like Wii U Functionality

Seems Sony’s gotten “borrowing” down to an art form and is now proceeding to draw inspiration from the Wii U’s seamless switch between a separate portable console-like controller and the TV screen before the console is even out. Or, as it would have us believe, its developers are, as according to Sony, devs who have had the Vita for a while have been playing with similar ideas.

“The Wipeout team showed us [that connectivity] working between PS3 and Vita, and I was like ‘Oh, really?’”, Shuhei Yoshida, president of Sony Computer Entertainment’s worldwide studios. ”We didn’t really push this to third party publishers, but it was people like Mr. Kojima, who came up with the intriguing ‘Transfarring’ system,” he went on to explain, referring to the system Konami will be implementing in its HD remakes of the Metal Gear Solid games.

Referring to the current PSP – PS3 Remote Play link he says that ”there are some latency issues that are natural to that system, especially going through the internet. It’s very interesting how Nintendo has solved the latency issues between the second screen and the main console output.” We’ll bet it is.
