Recycler pays out 12,045 pounds for unwanted gadgets – with the most popular recycled phone named as the Nokia 5800
Electronic goods recycler Weeebuy says it paid customers a total of 12,045 for unwanted products at this years ‘The Gadget Show Live’, with mobile phones accounting for the largest segment of goods received.
The uptake of old products was greater than what Weeebuy had originally anticipated.
Speaking to Mobile News after the show Weeebuy head of sales and marketing Chris Rogerson said a total of 670 electronic devices were bought to Weeebuy’s stand at the event over five days.
The most popular recycled phone was the Nokia 5800 while the most obscure piece of equipment bought in was a hard drive for 1990′s game console the Sega Mega Drive.
“We exceeded the figure of gadgets that we were expecting over the course of the show and it was no surprise to us that mobile phones were the most popular item traded,” Rogerson said.
“Previous years were super busy, but it really was on a different level this year – the attitude towards ‘cash for electronics’ really has grown massively.”
