Verizon Wireless announced today it will further expand the world’s first large-scale 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network to an additional 26 MetroWest communities on August 18. Verizon Wireless customers with 4G LTE smartphones, laptop modems and mobile hotspots will be able to take advantage of speeds up to 10 times faster than the company’s 3G network.
Within the Commonwealth, Verizon Wireless already offers its 4G LTE network in the Greater Boston area, including over a dozen communities in MetroWest, and Springfield, Massachusetts. The 26 cities and towns in Middlesex, Norfolk and Plymouth Counties that will be covered by the August 18th 4G LTE network expansion include:
