The popular PlayStation emulator PSX4Droid has resurfaced online after being delisted from Google’s Android Market last week for cryptic reasoning given by Google and is now available for free.
As promised, the latest update for the emulator features improved GPU compatibility to improve overall performance. The saga of PSX4Droid and its developer ZoTTD began when after nearly nine months of being actively listed on the Android Market, Google pulled the application from sale last week and suspended the developer’s accounts, tersely citing that it removes software that violates its policies.
The recent development comes mere days before the release of the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play Android smartphone, which will feature its own PlayStation emulator in PlayStation Pocket and is compatible with first generation PlayStation games, but will be incompatible with PlayStation Network PSOne software and purchases, creating a secondary store with identical, incompatible software.
