Amazon Appstore for Android goes live, welcomes newcomers with free Angry Birds Rio
Android users now have a new source to get their apps. The Amazon Appstore can be downloaded as an app, or you can download apps via their webstore. They reportedly have 3,800 apps readily available, and as an added treat, they’re giving away the Angry Birds Rio app for free to early adopters on opening day. Unfortunately, the Amazon Appstore is only available in the US, but I’m sure their already trying to find a way to open up their biz to other parts of the globe right as we speak.

Mobiles To Be Banned From London 2012 Olympics?
It’s still a year away and nothing’s final yet, but if the noon 2012 organizers’ wishes were to be granted, mobile phones won’t be allowed any of the Olympic venues as they “can disrupt some events.” They’re not singling out mobile phones, though. OTher noisy items such as the vuvuzuela horns won’t be allowed as well. Yeah, we know understand we’re their coming from, but aren’t they taking things a bit too far by banning mobile phones to the venues just for the sake of the game?

HTC EVO 3D officially announced for Sprint
This baby is the latest device to join the dual-core powered handset market, and looks to take on the LG Optimus 3D. It runs on 1.2GHz dual-core processor, and sports a 4.2-inch glasses-free 3D display, dual 5-megapixel camera with flash, a 1.3-megapixel front-facing cam, 1080p video playback via HDMI/720p video playback for 3D content with Android Gingerbread as its OS complete with Sense. Pricing is yet to be known, but it is scheduled to hit Sprint’s store this summer.

40% Will Switch to Android for Next Phone, Says Survey
40% isn’t majority yet, but it sure is quite a staggering figure, which just goes to show the growing popularity of Android. Do note, however, as the post points out, survey answers are one thing, but there’s really no guarantee they’ll actually be pushing through with what they said they’ll do. Nonetheless, the growing number of Android users across the globe should back this survey up, which undoubtedly will be music to Google’s ears.
