The price of the Verizon Motorola Droid 2 Global has dropped $50; lower than its standard selling cost just a couple of months ago. It may indicate that the phone needs to be a bit more interesting to customers or the marketing move suggests for mobile trend watchers to keep an eye on the forthcoming Droid 3, seen in stolen camera shots, which may be out in stores sooner than expected. This suspicion becomes clearer as Verizon has already adapted the pattern of lowering contract prices of older units to give way to the new, which the Droid 2 Global also underwent.
The Droid 2 Global runs under Android Froyo with a single core 1.2 GHz ARM Cortex-A8 processor, and has internal 8GB storage with 512 MB RAM. With these short specs provided, the Droid 3 is expected to be better on all aspects, making the older unit a bit slower, but still manageable to own. After all, $50 is still $50.
