European retail director to leave as part of changes within the company led by Best Buy Europe CEO Andrew Harrison
Carphone Warehouse European retail director Steve Blan is to leave the company after a management restructure.
As part of the company’s plans to integrate the Carphone Warehouse and Best Buy brands into one, a new European market format has been implemented, led by Best Buy Europe chief executive officer Andrew Harrison.
Previously the company had focused on nine different markets but these have now been split into three regions – Britain and Ireland, Northern Europe and Southern Europe. These changes meant there was no longer a European retail director role.
Blan has been at Carphone Warehouse since March 2009, where he joined as UK sales and customer director. Last June he was promoted to the role of European retail director. Prior to joining Carphone Warehouse, he was Dixons Stores Group (DSG) operations director for over 24 years.
A Carphone Warehouse spokesman said: “We recently carried out a restructure of our senior management team as part of our plans to integrate all our brands to ensure greater efficiency and to avoid duplication of effort.”
