Samsung Reveals Gem Android Smartphone

Samsung GemSamsung has revealed the first details on the Gem Android smartphone which is powered by Android 2.1 with the Swype virtual keyboard, its own Social Hub software and is meant for CDMA networks. Pricing and availability have yet to be confirmed.

The phone features a 3.2 inch capacitive touch display at WQVGA resolution with scratch/smudge resistance, 850/1900MHz CDMA support, GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth radios. The Gem also features an 800MHz processor, a 3.2 megapixel camera, speakerphone, and a microSDHC slot.

Based on the capabilities and dual-band CDMA support, the phone is a possibility for US Cellular, Sprint and Verizon as a mid-range model.
